The volunteering project of the Organization of NEDA 7 Employees (ONE 7) won second place for its entry titled “Bringing Joy to Children’s Joy Foundation Amidst the Pandemic in the BayaNEDAhan Best Project contest initiated by the Philippine National Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA). 

ONE 7 was given the award during during the Search for Outstanding COVID 19 Volunteers awarding ceremony last 17 December 2021. Aside from the plaque, ONE 7, represented by its president Cornelio Guantero, also received P40,000 cash.

ONE 7, in partnership with NEDA 7’s attached agencies such as the Commission on Population and Philippine Statistics Authority as well as member-agencies of the Association of Regional Executives of National Agencies in Region 7 (ARENA 7) currently chaired by NEDA 7 Regional Director Efren B. Carreon,  conducted  the volunteering project to give assistance to 25 children in the Childrens Joy Foundation, Inc. Together, the agencies were able to raise a total of P28,000 which was used to buy musical instruments, food packs, school supplies, vitamins, and basic hygiene supplies including COVID 19 kits. They were also able to grant the children’s wishes during their personal visit on 10 November 2021.

The BayaNEDAhan contest was conducted by PNVSCA as one of the activities of the National Volunteer Month which is celebrated every December to inculcate the culture of volunteerism among the men and women employees of the NEDA and its attached agencies and serve as a model for other government institutions towards a wider volunteer practice among public among public servants. Meanwhile, in a recognition ceremony held last 28 December 2021, the PNVSCA also awarded NRO 7 with a Certificate of Appreciation for being a valued partner in its advocacy and technical staff Vivian Rosales for being one of the best NRO focals.
