The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) of Central Visayas successfully conducted Track 2 of the Training on Gender and Development (GAD) for Regional Line Agencies, GOCCs and SUCs on August 23-24, 2022 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City. The training which was participated in by around 120 participants from 42 regional line agencies, GOCCs and SUCs in Central Visayas was the first of its kind to be ever conducted by an RGADC in coordination with the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW).

Unlike other GAD trainings, the focus of the recently concluded GAD training for RLAs/GOCCs and SUCs was on the integration of the GAD elements into the Regional Development Plan (RDP). It was organized to ensure that the planning staff of RLAs, GOCCs and SUCs who will be involved in the formulation of the Successor Central Visayas RDP (2023-2028) would be aware of the concepts of gender analysis and the utilization of the Harmonized GAD Guidelines (HGDG) as a tool for assessing the gender responsiveness of a development plan.

Two members of the GAD resource pool, namely, Ms. Rosena Sanchez and Executive Director Donald James Gawe of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency (PNVSCA) served as the main resource persons of the training. Mr. Carlo Gabriel Simbajon of the Policy Formulation and Planning Division (PFPD) of NEDA 7 also presented an overview of the RDP formulation process.

The organizers of the activity are looking forward to the application by the participants of their learnings as the region embarks on the formulation the successor RDP.
